Nothing To Do 9/16-9/18

In Entertainment on September 16, 2011 at 2:40 pm

Everyone always says there’s nothing to do in the Stockton area. Here’s a bunch of things going on this weekend that prove those people are just a bunch of Negative Nancies.

Lodi Grape Festival $8/adults $4/kids Ends Sunday

This weekend the annual Lodi Grape Festival is back with all the usual fun. They’ve got wine tasting, carnival rides, wine tasting, funnel cakes, wine tasting, a couple of classic rock tribute bands (Journey tribute band on Sunday!), and did I mention wine tasting? Also, Lucha Libre professional wrestling has been added this year which includes an appearance by former WWE wrestler Bushwhakcer Luke, who will presumably lick your face if you pay him a dollar. So, you know, fun for the whole family. Bring a DD.

Stockton Restaurant Week Prices vary 9/16-9/25

For the third straight year the Stockton Conference and Visitors Bureau presents Stockton Restaurant Week in which various restaurants around town will be offering 3-course dinners for $15-$25 as well as lunches for $10. This year the “week” has been expanded to 10 days to offer up maximum dining possibilities. It’s a great way to check out all those local restaurants you’ve been meaning to try. I’ll be sampling quite a few throughout the extended week and posting my reviews up here. So if you’re not sure where to start, stay tuned to the Port City Sun for suggestions.

Acoustic Hoedown $5 Plea for Peace Center (630 E Weber Ave) 9/16 7pm

Jake Murry, Ben Vogel, Andrew Hemans, Jesse Owens, and Katie Hell will be at the Plea for Peace Center tonight for a stripped down acoustic show. If you want to support local music, this is the place to be. It’s an all ages show, but if you really need to get your drink on, the Weber Inn is just a block away. Bring a DD.

Fat’s Grill and Bar Birthday Bash feat. Latin Magic Band $10 (4555 N. Pershing Ave) 9/16 8pm

I’m admittedly biased towards Fat’s since it’s my home base bar, but these guys also know how to throw a party. Tonight the celebrate their 10th birthday with fun party band Latin Magic and the original owners Mike Linker and Matt Thomas will be there tending bar. Drink specials should be pretty good. Oh, and of course bring a DD.
