Events for the 9/30-10/2 weekend

In Entertainment on September 29, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Sorry this is a day late. No, I’m not up to my old bad habits. I just lost my cell phone, which had a bunch of mostly written stories on it, at the gym on Tuesday and was too frustrated to try and recompile all that stuff. Luckily the internet is a flexible medium and there is still plenty to do this weekend so let’s see what we got.

Friday Sept. 30th

Broken Trojan, Mountain Tamer, Makes Us Human, and Sunny Days in Antarctica at the Plea for Peace Center 7pm $5

Promoter Middagh Goodwin continues to offer quality shows featuring local bands this week at the Plea for Peace Center.

Sky Tours at Delta College (Shima Lot) 7:30pm-9:30pm Free

The Stockton Astronomical Society presents their monthly tour of the stars in this free event at the Shima lot at Delta College. Astronomers will be on hand to answer questions and let you know what you’re looking at through the available telescopes. Saturday Oct. 1st

Oktoberfest on the Miracle Mile in the parking lot behind AVE and the Abbey Trappist Pub 4pm-10pm $5

October is on the way, which means it’s time for a bunch of alcohol and sausage consumption! The Miracle Mile kicks the month off with their event on Saturday, which is being put on this year by neighboring bars AVE on the Mile and The Abbey Trappist Pub. Unlike previous Mile Oktoberfests, this event is 21 and over only and will be in the parking lot behind the sponsor bars instead of a closed off Pacific Ave. There will be BBQ, tacos, pretzels, and multiple specialty beers as well as bands. Plus the Port City Pinup girls will be signing autographs for some reason.

Professional Bull Riders at the Stockton Arena 7:30pm $22-$62

The rodeo finally makes it to Stockton when the Profession Bull Riders Circuit comes to the Arena with more than 60 bulls and 40 riders vying for cash prizes and valuable points in the tour standings in anticipation of the PBR Finals in Vegas. Over/Under on number of cowboy hats is set at 400.

Pumpkin Maze at Dell’Osso Family Farm Daily from 10am-10pm for month of October

October brings more than just an alcoholic’s paradise, it also brings the return of annual Pumpkin Maze at Dell’Osso Family Farm in Lathrop. The maze opens up for the 14th time this weekend with a space theme to celebrate 50 years of NASA accomplishments. This year the corn maze is in the shape of the Kepler Telescope and a NASA astronaut will be on hand for the opening day festivities. Typical features like the pumpkin blasters and hay rides will also be running throughout the month.
