Events for the 10/6-10/9 weekend

In Entertainment on October 5, 2011 at 12:17 pm

Thursday Oct. 6th

Marine Artist Alan Ryall at the Haggin Museum 6:30pm $5

Marine Artist (ocean, not military) Alan Ryall will be doing a presentation at the Haggin Museum’s 1st and 3rd Thursday event. Ryall will also be on hand to answer artist questions for the museum’s upcoming Allure of Water exhibit. Complimentary wine and food come with the $5 admission to this event.

Friday Oct. 7th

Black Woods, Accidentally Murdered, Gorging on Innards, and Genocyde at the Plea for Peace Center 7pm Price TBD

There’s a show Friday featuring those bands. That’s literally all the information on the show’s Facebook events page. Which is the only place I can find advertising this show. Someone let me know if this show actually happened.

Saturday Oct. 8th

Stocktoberfest at the Waterfront Warehouse 2pm-10pm $22

The Downtown Alliance’s Stocktoberfest is back for a 3rd year with more beer and sausage than you’ll know what to do with. Back this year are the keg lifting competitions and an excellent accordian player. New this year is a Chicken Dance-off, lederhosen shirts, and hand rolled cigars. There will be more on this event in The Sun later on.

Zoovies at Micke Grove Zoo 6pm-10pm $8

Micke Grove Zoo will try and take advantage of the last days of summer weather by showing some movies outdoors in a family event you should totally take your kids to so I’m not tripping over your little brats at Stocktoberfest. They’ll be showing 3 movies at 3 different spots simultaneously. So you’ll have to chose between Rio, The Sandlot, and Dr. Doolittle. So show up early if you plan on seeing Sandlot.

Sunday Oct. 9th

The Independants, Before 20, It’ll Grow Back, and Union Hearts at the Plea For Peace Center 6pm $6

Like Ska? Then the Plea for Peace Center is the place for you to be Sunday. Of course, you could pretty much say that about most weekends at Plea for Peace for Ska fans. Either way, it’s the only interesting non-football thing going on Sunday.
